Most of the color graphics in this document were originally generated in 24 bit color (using Mathematica), and the quantization to 8 bit gifs is a bit awkward at times. For instance, the same medium gray background for many of the color figures comes out in different shades of blue, green, or yellow at times, and the color stimulus sets are distorted because they contain more than 256 different colors. Also equations, which are rendered as in-line X bitmaps, tend to get mangled a bit. Horizontal lines disappear when they end up "in between" the scan lines during PS rendering, which is the basis for the X bitmaps. This is visible in equations involving roots, for instance, where the "serifs" of the root signs disappear at times. The ampersand signs used in references which must be quoted in LaTeX remain quoted in the HTML version, which looks odd of course. I have not edited the quotation signs out.
The complete PostScript version with the 24 bit graphics is here. WARNING: the compressed PS file is about 4.2 Mb large, so it may take a while to transport.
